Rumors

I grew up with a book of Norman Rockwell's art in the formal living room.  The book stood open on a lovely book stand.  Both the book, and the stand, currently reside in my dining room.

There are many pictures in the Norman Rockwell book, but I do have my favorites.  One of them is called "Gossip".  It looks like this:

I've had a few very interesting conversations today.  I've learned a lot.  It's funny, because nothing I've heard about myself is correct.  The other things I've heard about people in my life aren't turning out to be true either.

Am I upset?  Not in the least :)   It actually makes me laugh.  I adore Smalltown, VA.  Really I do.  BUT..sometimes I think things get a little slow around here.  And when they do, the phone tree gets going.  And before you know it I'll be married with 4 kids, and another on the way.  And obviously that isn't the case.  But somehow people will believe it.  Well, until they run into me at the market and realize that my belly is flat, and there isn't a ring on my finger.

None of the rumors about me are disparaging.  Nothing negative.  Just nothing true.

After the third conversation about all of this excitement today, Norman Rockwell's painting immediately came to mind.  And I smiled :)

And then I remembered why the quote about myself on Facebook is:

"It's better to be looked over than to be overlooked."

Because it is.

Isn't it?

Grinning from ear to ear.....and waiting to hear what's next,

T

The older I get the less I care what other people have to say about me. It just doesn't matter any more. I remember reading a quote somewhere that said "What other people say about you is none of your business" I find that one to be quite true also :)

Yeah, I guess I would rather be talked about then have no one know who I was!

That quote is so good...and so true. Whenever I get upset when I hear rumors about myself, I have to remember to smile and brush it off. It's better to be recognized than forgotten. Oh drama :)
