I Need Some Advice

TEN has a friend getting married this weekend.  I was under the impression that the wedding was at 5pm, for some reason, and was planning to wear this:

(this is the best pic i can find.  boo hiss. no belt to be worn w/my dress)

(these are the shoes i bought, but they are much more "peach" in color IRL)

However, we've just discovered that the wedding is actually at 2pm.  Is this too much?  I almost feel like the sparkly peep toes put it over the top for a 2pm wedding?  Or no?  TEN says it will be just perfect.  It will be the first time I'm meeting many of his friends, and I don't want to make a bad impression.

Hmmmm....

Thoughts?

I think you will be perfect. You could always bring a nude shoe and then change in the sparklies at the reception.

Okay, you know my thoughts on this already. For now, my tentative vote is to wear gold strappy heels. You don't want to be self conscious the whole time- and you will already sort of be because you're meeting so many new people.

The dress is already fun, so you don't have to worry about being plain or boring just because you aren't wearing the sparkly shoes.

Can't wait to read everyone else's response!

Sparkly before 5pm is a no-no. It's trying too hard, which is not cool at someone else's wedding.

Nude heels, or the gold strappy heels that I trust mrs. mfc has seen and approved, are the way to go.

You know what? I say go for it! I see your concerns, but I honestly think the funness (is that a word?) of the dress is just accentuated by the shoes. Making it a really fun outfit. I will also note, however, that I'm all about fashion risks!

I'd say to wear some plain strappy sandals. The dress is perfect but I personally wouldn't wear sparkles for 2pm wedding. I'm sure you'll be pretty whatever you decide but that's my honest opinion!

I think perfect!! And, the ceremony might be at 2, but the reception will go much later, so its appropriate- I think, but I also dont believe in being over dressed :)

Shoes are too sparkly for a day time wedding. You do not want to feel over dressed either. You want to have fun and not be self conscious. More times than not...people won't notice either way.

I say wear them.
It's always hard to tell. What is the crowd like?
Not to sound snobby but if they're more upper class people might be dressed to the nines at 2pm.
That happened to me once. An outdoor wedding at 3pm on a plantation.
I figured it would be a little more casual but NO! Women had cocktail suits on!
I was mortified!
My motto is -- I would rather be too dressed up than under dressed. Wear the sparkles.

I agree with LWH...a pair of nude heels would go a long way to be trendy yet not overdressed.

Good luck!

Definitely change the shoes. They are way too dressy for a daytime wedding. Your sparkling personality will be shine enough:-)

I think that the shoes are a bit much for a 2pm wedding. I personally would do a nude shoe.

since I have no fashion sense whatsoever and live in jeans I'll just suggest going with what everyone else said...lol

Love the dress and the shoes.... If the wedding is very formal (or as formal as an afternoon wedding can get?), ditch the shoes (please feel free to send them to me). If it's not so formal, I say go for it.

Miss you and need an update from you!

I would dress for the type of ceremony, rather than the time of day. Sure, there are definitely some things that shouldn't be worn at 2 pm but wear what you feel fits the ceremony/reception location the best. And especially wear what you feel most comfortable/confident in since you'll be meeting new people! I try to wear statement pieces when I meet Mr. C's friends because I feel confident in them!!!!

I'd go with the plain sandals so you won't be thinking about it the whole time.

For the wedding since it is early I would wear a plain shoe - then depending on the reception time - I would then wear the sparkle shoe ... gives you an excuse to buy a new pair of simple, yet elegant shoes. The dress is beautiful and you probably don't want to take away from that - simple is always better.

Hope this helps, Katie

In a situation like this, I would say go with your gut. If you are worried that they are too much for a 2pm wedding, they probably are. You have good judgment and your gut won't steer you wrong!

I think it looks great, it is not too much.

Nude heels?? I think the dress is fabulous though and perfectly fun for 2pm. If you will be self conscious at all about the sparkles go with nude or gold. That's my $0.02. But really I think we worry about this kindove thing too much when MOST people will probably not be noticing your shoes..

The shoes are FABULOUS - but a little too much for a 2 o'clock wedding. Save them for the next evening wedding.
