I'm Not Getting Married Or Anything...

But......when I have ever had a vision of my wedding dress in years past, for some reason it's always been one of these types of dresses:

I don't know what it is about that gynormous tulle skirt, but I always thought I'd have that.  Probably because I was a ballerina for years.  The tulle has always represented "performance", "pretty" and "princessy" to me.  It was what I wore when I was on stage and everyone was watching.
At one point I was quite sure I would have THIS dress in all white:

I have quite a few IRL friends getting engaged/married these days (quite a few blog friends too!), and I've been looking at their potential wedding dresses.  Do you know what?  I think my taste had changed!

If I had to buy a dress today, I dare say it would look more like this:

What about you?  Are you a fan of the big skirt?  Or more of a sleek silhouette?

If you are already married, do you still love your wedding dress as much today as the day you wore it?  If you aren't married, has your "imaginary" wedding dress changed shape over the years?

I have a think for the big skirts, but now that I am engaged I can't imagine myself wearing one like that. I'm not a huge dressy/girly person so I am in the process of trying to find myself one that I can be comfortable in. Out of thousands of dresses I have found ONE that I like. Ug. It's going to be a long road ahead! LOVE the other dresses though, I might have to look into that style!

My head is exploding from trying to decide on wedding dresses... I have narrowed it down to four (all vastly different styles) but I need to round up girlfriends to go check it out with me. Or do what I'm threatening to do since all my friends seem to live out of town... livestream the whole event.

I'd like you to come home from vacation so we can discuss why you're looking at wedding dresses :) But anyway...

I like SO many different types of wedding dresses. I love the big ones. Love the lacy fitted ones. I think it really just depends on two things, and not so much just what style you like..

1- what you want your wedding to look like. many brides have to change the whole style/look of their wedding because they fell in love with a simple wedding dress, or fell in love with a super dressy dress. It's hard to pull off a casual beach wedding with a full out princess dress, know what I mean?

2- what actually looks best on you. For example... the mermaid dress. Girls love them. Then they try them on and realize what that style does to their body. Obviously some girls can pull it off and look amazing. That doesn't always happen though. You're tall so you could pull off the big princess dress. But, you're also super thin so you could definitely wear the fitted style with all the lace.

I am still completely in love with my wedding dress- but that has only been two years ago, so I'm not sure if I'll change my mind later on. I picked out lots of different styles!! You saw me- I tried on all different kinds of dresses!

After all that typing, I guess my point is that I don't think you have to pick one style as "your wedding dress style". You just have to try on dress after dress and see what feels right :)

When I first got engaged (which ended in cancelling the wedding, but still!) I completely thought I was going to love the big princess dresses too or if not those, then something really flowy. When I actually started trying them on, I discovered the opposite to be true. Really, it's just fun to try on a bunch with many different styles and figure out which one looks best on you!

I used to LOVE the big giant Disney princess wedding dresses. Bow I'm starting to lean towards the thinner dresses, but still with a nice train. There are so many styles and when my best friend got married, I enjoyed looking at every single bridal shop for her perfect gown. It was so much fun!

Even when I am thinner, I still carry junk in the trunk, so the big skirts are PERFECT for my body type and they make me look sinny everywhre else :) i didnt have a HUGE SKIRT, but there was some poof and I Still love my wedding dress 4+ years later. I do like the form fitting ones too though.

I used to like the poofy ones too but after I got engaged I knew a ball gown wasn't my cup of tea. I wanted that 'Jackie O' classic look.
I think it's when you get older.

I have been married for almost one year and still LOVE my dress as much as I did the first time I tried it on. For me I went with antique lace, strapless and straight with a long train-no poofy skirt for me :)

I love the new sleek dresses now. Both my daughter in laws had strapless mermaid lace dresses. They were beautiful.

I have 2 wedding dresses. One traditional and one more of just a really nice evening gown. I like the second better but the first was nice 20 some years ago.

My wedding dress was lacy and simple and I still love it! I do wish that I had worn a long mantilla veil though. They look so pretty, but at the time I was really against all veils.
