Just This One Time...

My lawn has grown out of control.

(disclaimer: this is NOT my house.  but the lawn looks almost as bad)

I confessed this to you the other day.  As well as my inability to repair my lawnmower at the moment.

So, the neighbor boy called.  He'd like to mow my lawn, with his step-dad's lawnmower, for $20.  I told him to go for it.

We went through this last year.  I never once actually mowed the lawn myself.  There was no reason that I didn't mow it.  He just consistently beat me to it.  And he probably needed the $20 more than I did.

THIS YEAR I WILL MOW MY OWN GRASS BECAUSE IT IS SOMETHING I AM PERFECTLY CAPABLE OF DOING, AND ACTUALLY SOMETHING I ENJOY DOING.

So there.

This one time is just because my lawnmower is broken.

Hold me to that.

I never mowed a lawn because I was so bad at it as a teenager (read: killed many flower beds) I was not allowed, thus I never learned. I just had my first crack at it last week and actually found it enjoyable and no plants had to give their lives.

It was FORBIDDEN in our house for girls to mow the lawn.
TOTALLY FORBIDDEN.. my Mom then and now believes it's not safe and not a lady's job.
HA! therefore.. I've never mowed a lawn and my daughter won't either.

you're funny... i would totally let him have at it. i have ZERO desire to do outside things, unless they involve drinking outside or napping in a hammock!

I think it is almost like therapy to do something like that. It can be relaxing. All though, $20 seems like a pretty good deal.

Have a wonderful weekend!

$20 - that's a great deal. Several years, when employed and before hubby, I paid someone to mow my lawn. It's not huge, 1/3 acre, and they charged me $45. I bet it's now $60.

I paid because I had such little free time and was always trying to play catch up that it was nice to have something off my to-do list.

I actually enjoy mowing the lawn too. I don't do it often anymore though since my husband got a rider and he always wants to do it.

Be grateful you have a willing neighbor boy! I just have to wait until KB gets around to it......which is normally a long time.

I mowed until my three sons were old enough, now they're grown and gone and the husband took over!
