Broken

TEN and I are no longer together.  It was nothing dramatic.  Neither of us did anything wrong.  It just wasn't meant to be I guess.

There is a man out there that will walk through my door one day and never leave.

I know that.

I believe it with all of my heart.

I just wish I could figure out how to explain it to Louis.

We're Ready Now. Bring on the Derby!

"Few things are more beautiful than a sunny day in Charlottesville in the spring time. The temperature is just warm enough for you to feel the heat, but the notorious summer humidity is still a few months away. The dogwoods are in their majestic pink and white blooms. The daffodils couldn’t be a more perfect yellow. And the folks living here gleefully shake off the long winter season with whatever outdoor activity they can find. There’s a gaiety to the air that’s infectious. And down off Garth Road on the last Saturday every April there’s a type of gaiety and cheer that can only come from 12oz cans and horse racing. The Fox Field Races are a C-ville tradition where the county’s blue-bloods picnic lavishly on the outer rim while UVA students drink themselves into a hilarious (if not dangerous) stupor. On the outfield it’s a white-collar picnic; on the infield it’s the most savage frat party you’ve ever seen in a field. Never mind the sundresses, bow ties, seersucker jackets and enough JCrew to barely stomach…"  - The American Festivals Project

Cover Your Eyes (there is a curse word in this blog post!)

Wow.  What a weekend.  I can't even begin to go there right now.  So, I will leave you with the following....

(T on exercise)

Rain, rain...GO AWAY!

No box on the porch when I got home :(

So, I'm going to be wearing a Lilly dress I found from last year to the Foxfield Spring Races.  I only wore it once or twice, and it isn't very colorful...but it will do.  I'm also going to wear my Miss Trish of Capri red sandals with a gold starfish and my NEW Kate Spade bracelet that I won in MCW's giveaway.  That will give me a little bit of color anyway!

I hate Polyvore.  We are in a fight about 90% of the time, so rather than try to upload my dress into Polyvore (while it continuously tells me I can't upload anything from kaboodle.com), I will just show you right here:

Not quite the same as Polyvore, but you get the idea :)  I also have a red cardigan to bring along.  Not to be confused with my yellow wellies and my raincoat, as there is a 60% chance of rain.  Yes, that's right.  T is NOT pleased.

I'm trying not to let it get me down.  We are all very excited to be getting out of town and spending some quality time together.  And seriously...it ALWAYS says it's going to rain for Foxfield.  Very rarely does it actually rain.  So I'm going to stay positive.  Because the last time it was supposed to rain things ended up a little bit like so:

Have a WONDERFUL weekend.  Let's chat on Monday, shall we?  I have a feeling I'll have some gossip to share and some pictures to leak :-o

Catch Me If You Can!

A gynormous thank you to Vynuss from Vynuss Vision who has just handed me the Honest Scrap award!  Happy Thursday friends :)

The rules for this are simple. . . write 10 things about yourself and pass this award on to your favorite bloggers.

Here's the hard part!  Because I am so honest, and because my mouth runs constantly (read - fingers type constantly) you pretty much know most everything about me.  What's a girl to do?  Well, I'll tell you what I'm going to do.  Just this once mind you!  I'm going to show you what TEN and I really look like.  Get excited!

I hate to let you all down.  All of this time you have probably been thinking "wow, these people are probably so pretty and such they could be on covers of magazines!  and maybe they are!  maybe that is why they don't show their faces!"  And then I show you what we look like and I can hear this sound, all across the land "Awwwwwww...what a let down."

So if you have anything snarky to say, you just talk amongst yourselves.  Okay?  You just let TEN and I go on thinking that we are pretty people who need a white box on our faces :)

Without further adieu:

PHOTO REMOVED :-O

Catch a glimpse while you can friends...this post may disappear in the very near future :-o

They Say It's Your Birthday.......Suit

Daisy bought this prize for our friend H for her birthday:

H, IF YOU ARE READING THIS BLOG, WHICH I DON'T THINK  YOU DO, BUT IF YOU ARE.......IMMEDIATELY CLOSE THIS BLOG IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED YOUR PRESENT.

Now, It's this little bag:

Isn't it just presh?!?!?!

Daisy picked me up for lunch today.  I was craving Thai.  When I saw this bag in the back seat I momentarily coveted it, but then I remembered I has just purchased this one:

And then I felt better :)

MK, WIMP and I are getting together this evening for cocktails.  It's been months since the three of us cavorted.  No good. This will be my THIRD night in a row enjoying cocktails.  I'd better take tomorrow night off so that I can detox for the Foxfield Races!!

I had also better start praying.  ZERO of the dresses I've ordered have arrived, and currently I will be attending the races in my Birthday Suit :-o

Fingers crossed there is a package at the house,

We Need To Talk

I'm sorry.  I have tried so hard.  I really, really wanted it to work.  I have spent hours trying to find something I like about you anymore.  I just can't.

J. Crew, we are breaking up.  You currently fill 1/2 of my closet.  You and I have been together since the beginning.  But, now your clothes make me frown.  You have changed.  Perhaps you are just having an identity crisis?  When you get out of your hippie-ish stage call me.  Okay?

(messy)

(dirty)

(homeless)

Maybe there are one or two things that I still like at your shop.  Okay.  I admit it.  But they cost $250.  And really J. Crew, if I'm going to drop $250 I will just call up Tory and tell her to send me the presh little tunic:

So, now that we've gotten that out of the way...I accidentally just purchased this little dress:

Sure wish it would get here in time for this:

Photo Enhancements

MK has recently discovered this VERY nifty little website.  It allows you to do all kinds of neat things to your pictures.  Things very basic like this:

(my all-time favorite picture of Louis)

And, for those of us with mad skills we can get a lil' bit fancy :

(you may have to click on the picture to see all of my snarkiness)

So get ready, this blog is going to have some FINE pictures on it moving forward.

Bowties & Brunch

What a full weekend I had!!  The weather was absolutely lovely, and I took advantage of it as much as I could :)

Friday evening TEN and I decided to lay low.  We had quite the weekend ahead of us, and we thought resting up Friday night would be wise.  We did, however, venture out to the grocery store....as I was hosting PJ Brunch Club on Sunday morning and hadn't purchased a thing!

Grocery shopping probably took a bit longer than it should have.  This is due to my latest obsession.  Have you purchased/read/heard of Eat This Not That

These are the neatest books in the world.  I realized that half of the things I'm eating in an attempt to be "healthy" are absolutely NOT healthy.  Who knew that turkey bacon was worse for you than regular bacon?  These books are chocked full of this type of information, AND they tell you exactly what to buy to save yourself hundreds of calories a day.  You won't even notice a change in taste...believe me!  I've already eaten the bacon they suggest, the cheese, the bread, the sliced deli turkey AND the mayo.

I'm not saying you are going to drop 20lbs by simply eating the suggested brands out of this book, but you certainly should see some difference.  The knowledge that Healthy Choice meals aren't all that healthy?  There are some of them that are actually very UNhealthy.  Who knew?

Saturday I had a hair appointment and so did Louis!  I adore my haircut (basically the same really, just much shorter) and Louis adores his too.  He was hand stripped for the first time.  I am so excited about this I can't even tell you!!!   A westie looks so much more proper (in my opinion) when they are hand stripped.  The problem was, Smalltown, VA didn't appear to have anyone who was trained to do this.  Obviously persistence pays, and I ended up finding a lovely woman who hand strips.  Louis did very well (according to the groomer) and has an excellent coat for stripping.  However, she plans to have me come back every 3 weeks for a while until she works through his whole coat.  Since this is his first go at handstripping she didn't do all of him at once.

Here is Louis with his "new do":

The groomer said it would probably take about 4 to 6 months until he looks proper.  This is due to the buzz cut he received from the last groomer.  Poor little guy:(

Saturday night was Babbo Natale's birthday celebration!  It was entitled Bowties and Belles and it was absolutely fabulous!!  I had my camera with me, but was so busy talking to all of Babbo Natale's lovely friends I only took 3 pictures.  AND...they aren't very good.  Sigh.  So, I stole a few from someone's Facebook to share!

(Babbo Natale on the right, and a girlfriend of hers)

(a group of Babbo Natale's friends-MK is second from the left and I'm 4th from the left)

(MK and I on the dance floor!)

Babbo Natale's celebration was absolutely lovely, and we were so very sad when it was over!  However, TEN and I had to head straight home so that we could get ourselves rested for Sunday's festivities.

PJ Brunch Club Menu at my home this time included:

Belgian Waffles with fresh fruit
"Made for You" Omelets
Bacon
Sausage

And of course, MIMOSAS!

(here is a picture of my dining room table set for brunch)

(i did a mix & match of place settings...all spring themed of course!)

(this is the other rotation of place setting)

(these are the fresh cut flowers i chose)

(TEN making Belgian waffles)

(the finished product....YUMMM!)

(fresh fruit for the waffles)

(this is my favorite picture of Louis.  the sun was in his eyes and he had been running all around the yard and was completely exhausted.  doesn't he look pitiful?  i shouldn't giggle...but i can't help myself!)

(the girls)

(the boys...and Louis of course!)

(TEN and Louis)

(the boys were playing ladder golf and used the lawn mower as a side table.  we are so classy sometimes!)

(the damage...)

We had friends stay over until around 6:30, and then TEN and I headed to a local restaurant for dinner outside on the patio.  Then, we trekked over to Daisy's house for a visit since she had been gone for the weekend.  We took Louis of course, and he played with the other pups.

A lovely weekend was had by all!

Louis and Henry

I just realized I never shared the pictures of Louis and his Westie friend Henry playing at TEN's the other day!  Henry is about 10lbs heavier than Louis.  Can you tell which one is Henry and which one is Louis?

Have a lovely weekend!
