Westie Wednesday - Family Edition

Although the last week started off slowly for Louis Wellington, he did get some rather exciting news yesterday :)

First things first....

TEN and Louis have a special bond that I am not a part of.  It pains me greatly, but I have accepted it as so.  Louis loves me dearly, but if TEN is around I become a second class citizen.  Upon trying to determine why this is I was flipping through some recent pictures.

Could it be because they both enjoy car rides?

Or because they both enjoy naps on the couch?

Perhaps it is because they bonded immediately on the way home the day we adopted him?

And in the first few days after that?

Or, perhaps it is because TEN comforted him after he had his "snip snip"?  Clearly only something a man can understand...

Even now, he prefers that TEN hold his lead when we go on walks.

I tried to have a conversation with Louis about this last night.  And to explain that I'm so glad he loves TEN, but that he can favor his mummy sometimes too.  And for example, that it may be nice if he sits on top of me when watching TV as well :)

And then....he rolled his eyes, sighed deeply and flung himself down on the opposite end of the couch.

I have no words.

In trying to prove to Louis that I am the more preferable "parent", and that I do more for him than anyone else in the whole wide world...I mentioned that I'm pretty sure we have located his sister/litter mate.  One of BFF's clients has a girl westie pup that we are 98% sure is Louis sissy!!  Isn't that exciting?!?!?

We adopted Louis from a land far, far away.  A place so out of the way, and obscure, that when I list the location of Louis' birth people often look baffled.  They have never heard of such a place.  And then just yesterday BFF's client showed her a picture of her westie.  And BFF remarked "my goodness, that looks just like my BFF's westie called Louis!"

One thing led to another, and there you have it.  Louis' long lost sister has been found! (well, we think so anyway.  just waiting to confirm that they have the same birth date) Now, here's the question....

Will Louis recognize his sister AS HIS SISTER when he meets her?  Or, will he have accepted TEN and I as his family and have no recollection of his westie parents and siblings?

I can't wait to find out!

Westie Licks,

T & Louis

How will you be able to "tell" if Louis recognizes her? Sometimes Bondi meets pups and you could swear they're long lost littermates, but alas, the dog weighs appx 12 lbs and is white and fluffy. Not so possible. (Aside, Bondi has a thing for little dogs. Anywho..) then othertimes he meets a lookalike and he is clearly threatened by said potential dogs handsomeness, or something. This happened once back in NC and i thought they could be brothers, but Bondi was so snarky I thought it was impossible.

Anyway i love LOVE the pics of Louis and Ten. They are clearly 2 peas in a pod. My favorite is the head out the window. Don't worry though, I'm sure Louis knows who FEEDS and bathes him.. who is REAL momma is. And if not, you can get the book 'are you my mother' and improvise a bit..

Love these pics! My mom has the same problem with our dog. My mom bathes her, feeds her, takes her to the vet, etc but my Dad is always her person to follow around. Sigh.

just the opposite around here, Duke is a momma's boy. He'll hang with dad sometimes but not too often. Good to see that Louis and Ten are tight buddies

I am glad that Louis loves TEN - Louis probably just needs some 'guy' time. It's hard to be a man in a girly world. But I know what you mean. Lola freely kisses everybody in the WORLD but me. I have to BEG for them and then they are resentful! Breaks my heart - the little turkey!

How exciting! Our pup met her long lost brother once and didn't seem to act any different to him than other dogs in her life. What a cute photo of Louis when you first brought him home.
