The Greenbrier - Let the Countdown Begin!

Did I tell you that TEN and I are going to The Greenbrier in a few weeks?

Few resorts in America enjoy a reputation as grand as The Greenbrier. Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains, the Greenbrier provides a getaway that allows today's busy travelers a chance to relive the golden days of resort life. The mountains provide a backdrop to numerous activities such as golf, tennis, and cycling. If total relaxation is your thing, the spa is the place to go. People have been coming to the springs here since 1778 for their healing waters. The hotel has restored the fabulous Dorothy Draper interiors from yesteryear and soon will reopen the U.S. Government Relocation Bunker for tours. Make the Greenbrier your fallout shelter this summer!

The first time I ever went to The Greenbrier I was in awe.  I believe most people probably are.  The bold colors!  The blend of florals and stripes!  A huge smile swept across my face at the sight :)  If only Dorothy Draper were alive today to continue to brighten this world.

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous too, of course....

I plan to have a spa service or two.  TEN is going to join me ;)  I do think a man should indulge himself at the spa sometimes.  Relaxation is not only for ladies.

They have cooking demonstrations, and I am ECSTATIC about the opportunity to participate.  I just KNOW my cooking classes are going to pay off :)

The Greenbrier has a casino.  I've walked through it, but I've never gambled there.  I've never really gambled anywhere, actually.  I did play the slot machines in Vegas once.  I beat Vegas.  I came home +$17.  It was a small victory, but a victory just the same.

TEN says that in two weeks I am going to learn how to gamble.  Like grown-up style gamble.  I'm a little bit nervous.  I'm only going to bring $200.  If TEN causes me to lose all of my $200, I plan on taking $200 from him.  That way I'm safe :)

I can't tell you how excited I am to wear my new frocks, to relax at the spa, to walk the grounds of this historic and beautiful resort....with TEN.

It's on my list. I'm not sure how keen Brad would be on going. I'm thinking it's a Mother/Daughter trip :-)
You've never really gambled? WOW! You're in for a good time.

Oooh I'm so excited for you that looks amazing! You will love it :-) and by it I mean gambling. Insist on paying craps it is SO FUN everyone wants everyone to win, it's like a team sport. And you will be awesome. Just bet on the pass and 6 and 8. Sure winners :-) TEN will show you! I have the same strategy I bring 200 and am "okay" with losing it but that almost never happens. 2 weekends ago I was down to 20 after 2 hrs of blackjack (slowly chipping away at my $) but then went to the craps table and an hr later i was back to 200. That's when I left. After 3 hrs of entertainment and drinks I left with all my money. I consider that a win :-) You will have to let me know how it goes!

I absolutely love The Greenbrier. It is one of the most beautiful places in the world. We choose there for spring break every year! I too wish Mrs. Draper was still alive, I would have loved to have met her. We attended The High Style of Dorothy Draper Weekend last year and got to meet Mr. Carleton Varney. The Greenbrier is extraordinary and few words can truly describe it! Have a great time!

Very very exciting! I used to work for one of their major competitors and everyone would get so jealous of all the cool things they offer.

G and I went last Summer and it was amazing. Amazing food, shopping, rooms, and gambling. The casino is fun, bring some hot dresses to wear in there. The sushi in the back of the casino is to die for.

It is also romantic, you and TEN have a wonderful time. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Be prepared to buy a robe, once you put that sucker on there is no taking it off.
