Dunn's River Falls, Jamaica

TEN proclaimed (about 6 months ago) that we should go to Jamaica for Thanksgiving.  He decided that he would organize everything, and we would have a lovely time.  He wanted the Corona commercial for a week.

By now you all know I'm a bit of a control freak.  I like to organize everything, because then I know it will be done correctly :)  You know the type.  Anyhoo...I've not done a thing for this trip.

I've just finished organizing our SECOND trip to Charleston, SC.  I've planned a few other excursions as well.  But I haven't done anything for Jamaica.  We still don't have reservations or flights or what have you.

TEN's theory is that the longer we wait, the better the price will be.  Yes, yes...he's looked at prices.  He's asked me to sit down with him a few times, and we've chosen the resort where we want to stay.

(clearly TEN and I are going to have to help this party get started...)

What have you found when planning a vacation to a land far, far away?  IS the last minute the way to go?  Because I'm starting to have a little bit of a panic attack.  I'm starting to think that I'm going to have to plan this adventure.  And if I do, I will pout the whole time.  I may even turn into THIS guy:

Sometimes it's nice to be the one that just gets to show up.  You know?

I'm total Type A and can't wait until the last minute. It gives me a panic attack as well.
I say, go ahead and book in October.
Looks like tons of fun!!!

Definitely do it more than 21 days out because that's when flights go up. Girl, let him just do it and you can always say "I told you so!"

we did the dunns river falls climb as a kid -- so cool!

i'd love to be able to just SHOW UP. but i know that everything would fall apart if i didn't plan. or maybe i just tell myself that.

My friend bought a last minute trip to Cuba (by last minute, I mean within a few weeks of departure.) She paid around $600 (all inclusive) and had an amazing time at an amazing resort. I think you're likely ok to wait just a little longer, but I'd probably think about getting TEN to book soon.

You're going to have a blast!

You'll be fine! Sometimes planning too far ahead is not a good thing. By the time we got to Mexico my MIL had had so much time to "plan" that we hardly had any free time at all.

This resort looks far better then anything we've stayed at - but that was many years ago. As far as waiting - that's a coin toss - if air is included then it could be a charter flight - which may get booked - there are only so many planes that can land on that island per day. If you're concerned don't worry about the few extra dollars you'd pay if you book now - another thing is to talk to a travel agent - and as I mentioned to you before - I would only go there with this trip booked thru a travel agency - trust me on this one.

Have fun and you'll be saying - a drink in my hand and my toes in the sand ... soon enough!

I am more like TEN and wait until the last minute. Good news, sometimes waiting does pay off; but...and this is a big BUT, you are looking to go over a holiday. Book the resort now. Don't wait. Airfare could wait a bit longer...who knows maybe the price will dip. Either way, enjoy, the resort looks amazing!

I'm a big planner, and like to have lots of options. I actually over plan all our trips-so there are three things we could do for every one thing we actually do. BUT if you are staying in an all inclusive, there isn't much planning to do. The whole point is that you don't have to plan anything, and there are tons of options everyday. Also I know lots of sites offer last minute deals, too-but it may not be for Jamaica or the resort you want...

TEll TEN To get going!! I would be antsy if nothing was planned. Thanksgiving is a BIG travel weekend. We used to go to the Caribean or down south for Thankgsiving when I was younger.
BUT, I know how you feel because We are supposed to go to NZ in Jan. and Andrew thinks ticket prices will go down..and he is waiting and waiting. THey are at $2200 a piece now, so I have a feeling he will go and I will stay home in the end. boo.

I totally feel you on this. Oh, the stress!!! Resist the urge to plan it girl because it will feel so good WHEN Ten comes through on this!!!! :-) PS I wish I had the problem of finding vanity size clothes. They need to bring that to seattle ;-)
