TEN and I watched Bottle Shock a few weeks ago. LOVED it. TEN's step mom recommended it when we met back in November. Since we are all great lovers of wine, she thought we would enjoy it. For some reason it only just came recently, and truthfully I'd even forgotten about it :-o
So, it was a lovely surprise when TEN showed up at my house with his new NetFlix and Bottle Shock was included.
So here's the 411 on the movie. It's not a side splitter or adventure packed. It's not a horror film or a heartbreaking drama. It's an indie flick about wine. About how the US finally ended up on the map as a country that could actually produce tasty wine. California is where it all started.
The movie highlights one specific vineyard. We meet the people working there. We learn that wine is their life, their passion, their love. TEN and I realized that we had very little knowledge about a lot of things where wine is concerned :) We rooted for the underdog, and shook our fist at the French.
In the end, we smiled and said "boy, I really liked that movie". So, for anyone who has any interest in learning about wine, I hereby award Bottle Shock:
However, if you only drink beer and think people who drink wine are snobs, don't rent this movie. Also, if you think quirky indie films are annoying....don't rent this movie :)
