The Non-Cooking Class!

Last night we decided to treat ourselves to the Chef's Tasting Menu at a local restaurant.  A week "off" from cooking class.  We thought we would give someone the chance to cook for us, and to pair wines for an overall experience :)

Do you follow Groupon?  We have Groupon here, but we also have a local "Daily Deal" from Smalltown, VA's newspaper.  It was one of these Daily Deals that got us to the restaurant we went to, for the Chef's Tasting, for $20.  No.  I'm not kidding.  The wine was extra, but who cares!  $20 was MORE than reasonable.

We started off with a bottle of Pinot Grigio.

We enjoyed the Pinot Grigio with:

(goat cheese, local types of lettuce, julienne apples, roasted pistachios and an absolutely delicious house dressing)

AND....

(shrimp over fettuccini with a Parmesan cream sauce.  my favorite dish of the evening!)

Then, we ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.

We enjoyed the Cab with:

(duck with root vegetables)

AND...

(the most delish homemade brownie with butter pecan ice cream, covered in a strawberry sauce.  ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?  yes.  yes i am.  and it was tasty.)

Overall, the evening was PERFECT!

Bon Appetit!
