Hair Cuts & Ball Gowns = Decisions, Decisions....

Hello loves!  I've been having some computer issues, so I'm going to tell you what's been going on real quick.  Hopefully I can get it all posted before the world crashes down in T's computer land again :-o

Friday night someone cooked me dinner.  He made chili.  It was tasty :)  And then some friends came over, and we headed out to a new little place in Smalltown, VA.  And it was fun.  I hadn't seen some of those people in a while, so it was nice to catch up.  AND...to meet some new friends!  Louis stayed at the cook's house, and was not in his crate.  EGADS!  He ate the cook's blinds.  Bad, bad pups.  He has such anxiety when I leave him out of his crate :(  Do your muffins have this problem too?

Saturday I woke up to bunches of snow falling!  However, it went away before I even had the chance to get out and enjoy it.  But that's okay.  I had BIG plans for Saturday, and I needed to be able to get around.

Do you remember when I said I was going to get my hair cut?  It was part of my New Year's to do list.  Well, I did!!!  And it's short.  But I think I like it.  Here, have a peek:

(first attempt to fix it...and it looks bleached out?  it's the same color.  promise!)

(a little messier today than i've done it the past few days)

(i'm not sure...what do you think?)

I played with it for most of Saturday, and tried to fix it a few ways.  I think I've found the way it looks best, but I'm a bit nervie about how to fix it for the upcoming B&W Masquerade ball.  Speaking of that masked event...I may have to go back on something I said.  About my dress.  The one that I needed to loose 8lbs to fit into.  Yea.  That may have been an understatement.  I think 18lbs is more like it :(  There is no way it's going to work.

BUT....

I got the most amazing call today from my favorite dress shop.  And guess what!?!?!?!?  They think they can get MY dress in (the one that I fell in love with, but they couldn't get) in time for the ball.  SO. EXCITED. I. CAN'T. STAND. IT.  Do you want to see it?  The dress that I love so much?  Here, I'll show you...

(isn't it gorg?!?!?)

(SWOON!)

(love the sparkles on the top)

(look at all of the rosettes covering the dress.  me loves!)

Isn't it something?  But it would cause me to put $$ on my credit card.  Which is bad.  But I love it.  I just don't know what to do.  Sigh.

Anyway, back to Saturday night.  We grilled filets with baked potatoes and had salads.  It was fun!  Grilling in the snow is something I haven't done before!  Unfortunately, I haven't any pictures to share.  The tasty supper was gobbled up in my belly so quickly there was no time for pictures :-o

Louis was also feeling under the weather on Saturday night : (

He had some breakfast that was a little bit "rich" for him, I think, and was leaving little presents all over my house :(  I decided the best course of action was to stay in for the evening with him, and to play a few board games:

Sunday morning we were up and at 'em early.  A friend's dog went missing, and a search party was formed to help find him.  Unfortunately, we didn't find him :(  But, we handed out hundreds of flyers so hopefully he will be found soon!

When we got back to my house we were frozen solid.  I felt that this was the only solution:

I may have had one too many, as I was asleep by 7:30pm.  Oopsies!

Monday was work and pilates and such.  Nothing too exciting.  Louis is feeling a bit better, so he will probably be heading back to doggie day care tomorrow.  Things around Smalltown, VA are starting to get exciting :)

Tonight is wine group, and BFF is hosting.  I'm a little nervous to drive out to her house with the impending snow/ice forecast, but I can't pass up the chance for wine and cheese with my girls!

Wish me luck, and I'll keep you posted about my dress.  What do you think?  Is it worth breaking my New Year's resolution to myself?

I love your hair - maybe you could do it half up half down for the special occasion?

You know I always have these big debates on new adorable dresses too but most of the time I either buy it and have huge buyers remorse and take it back OR after the event I'm glad I wore another dress I had in my closet and I've saved a few hundred bucks. Just my two cents and trying to be a good influence!

What with this "we" business all of sudden? I am pretty sure you do not mean Louis! Spill!

Now, be strong! I am sure you have another beautiful dress you could wear. The party is only for a few hours, and the next day you will feel so much better that you didn't blow all the money.

I do love the hair cut! I think maybe wear it just straight back and very classic for the party.

Hope Lewis is feeling better. I have to post a picture of Jake, he was scalped!

Have a great day!

I LOVE your hair!! It looks great! Not everyone can pull off shorter hair, but I think you're totally working it.

As for the dress...it is seriously beautiful. Here's the question you have to ask yourself - will you be happy in any other dress? If you feel like you will be, I'd say don't buy the dress. If you feel like you won't be and you're ok with breaking your no credit card rule, go for it. (Not helpful at ALL, I'm sorry!!)

-You know that I obviously love the dress. I have from the very first second I saw it.

-it will/would look great on you. plus your new haircut would work great with the dress.

However...

-you will have fun no matter what dress you wear.

-it is very expensive.

-you don't want to use your credit cards in 2011 and it is only January 11th.

-(I also have two other reasons that I don't want to write on this public blog).

I don't think you should get the dress, but I think you already know that.

Do I think you will get the dress anyway and look beautiful and have a wonderful time? Yes.

The decision is yours and I don't think you should listen to these comments to make your decision.

I'm a bad bad BAD influence because I LOVE the dress. It is FABULOUS and so freaking gorgeous. I have a feeling you'd look amazing in it too, especially with the new hair do! which I love also! :)

I have a few little solutions for when I'm finding that I just have a crazy "Want it, need it, gotta have it" urge...

1. I save little tiny bits of money each day in multiple ways. My checking account is set up to transfer a dollar each time I use my debit card.

2. I have a piggy bank..for real...but not in the shape of a pig :) And it says "Shopping Fund" on it. I keep it where I put my keys when I walk in the front door. And I randomly put money in there. Change, dollar bills, every now and then when I get crazy, I'll put a 5, 10, or 20 in.

And 3. I transfer money with each paycheck to two different accounts - my savings, and my other checking account. The other checking account is my fun account :)

SO...when I see something I really want, I check out these accounts and decide whether or not its what I want to spend that money on. (And I dont feel bad saying yes because it's not my bill paying, day to day living, checking account.) But it also makes me look at my spending in a different way for these urges. For example, this dress. I'd look at what I have set aside for fun spending, and know that no matter what, I'm going to be spending this money on something fun and frivilous, and usually there is always else I LOVE and would use more often that I've been wanting for ages.

So LONG story short...as much as I love this dress, think about what else you've been dying to have and how often you'd use it.

AND PS - I dont know who cooked you dinner friday but I'm excited for you because I know you're following your heart :) And no matter what you wear to the ball, I'm pretty sure HE will think you are gorgeous

The hair and the dress are fab!

Wow, the cook sounds like an awful nice guy/girl especially since he/she has some blinds to replace :-)I think the dress is gorgeous but if it's a one time wear i don't know if it'd be worth breaking the resolution less than 2 wks into 2011. What about those dress swap thingers where they have affordable designer dresses to 'rent' - is that all a myth? BTW your hair looks ADORABLE. I love the 1st pic but the other 2 with the whole natural wave thing is really nice too!

Your hair cut looks great. As for the dress, yes it will add to the credit card but I do believe there have to be exceptions to every rule especially when it comes to gorgeous dresses.

Your hair looks great! I love it. Yay for you checking one thing off of your New Year's list. Now, while we are on that subject, do not buy the gown. The one you already have is beautiful. While this one is too, I just feel like you could save some major $$!

Love the dress, but I hate to see you break your no credit card rule. Figure out another way to buy it, or go with something else. You'll be proud of yourself for respecting your resolution!

The haircut is adorable!

And uhhhh....who is this "we"???

I'm really loving the theme/design of your website. Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility problems? A small number of my blog visitors have complained about my site not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Opera. Do you have any recommendations to help fix this problem?

Woah! I'm really loving the template/theme of this blog. It's simple, yet effective.

A lot of times it's tough to get that "perfect balance" between usability and appearance. I must say you have done a amazing job with this. In addition, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Opera. Outstanding Blog!

The other day, while I was at work, my sister stole my apple ipad and tested to see if it can survive a
25 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation.
My iPad is now broken and she has 83 views.
I know this is completely off topic but I had to share
it with someone!
