Thought For The Day...

Find a man who calls you beautiful instead of hot. Who calls you back when you hang up on him. Who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat, or will stay awake just to watch you sleep...

Wait for the man who kisses your forehead.  Who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats.  Who holds your hand in front of his friends, and who thinks you' re just as pretty without makeup on. One who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares, and how lucky he is to have YOU. The one who turns to his friends and says, "That's her... "  - Author Unknown

Have a lovely weekend friends.  I'm off tomorrow, and soooo looking forward to a day at the pool with BFF!!

Drinking Games From Around The World...Oh La La!

MK gave me the most clever gift for my birthday.  It is a little tin full of drinking games.  Not just regular drinking games, mind you...international drinking games.

The two games we have decided we will play first are:

The Dreidel Game  (Popular in Israel)

Game pieces: a Dreidel, a cup

Basically, you place a cup in the center of a table.  Players take turn spinning the dreidel:

Then, they carry out the following actions:

SHIN = pour some of your drink into the center up
HAY = Half.  Drink half of what's in the cup
GIMEL = Drink all but one sip of what's in the cup
NUN = Do nothing

Continue playing until players are ready to move on to a different game of activity.

Secret Slip (Popular in Scotland)

Game Pieces: The Red Game Chip

Here, each player begins with a drink and they just "hang out" as they normally would when drinking socially.  One play, whoever suggested the game, begins as the holder of the red chip:

He/She waits until someone's guard is down and slips the chip into someone's drink.  The person then fishes out the chip and has to finish their drink.  They then become the holder of the chip, and the game continues.  However, rest assured that players who have had to finish a second drink should be exempt from further chip drops :)

And, if you are in doubt of which game to play, feel free to use the spinner to help you narrow it down:

As I said before...I received some of the most lovely gifts from my girlfriends.

(i ADORE my necklace RHWOD..thank you!!)

(Barbie...you know me so well!)

My mother also sent me a HUGE box filled with birthday gifts.  She always does so very much for me, and I love everything dearly!!  She has spoiled me YET AGAIN with a fabulous pair of Chanel summer sunglasses:

She also called a local nursery and bought a rose bush for me to plant in my yard!!  I adore roses, and this bush of sorts that she has found is incredibly hardy.  I've always wanted to attempt roses, but I thought they were a bit testy.  I was sure they wouldn't survive under my watch.  BUT...this is a rose of a different name :)  It supposedly will flourish as long as I water it regularly.  I think I can handle that!  I can't wait to pick it up and plant it :)

My birthday has come and gone, and I'm completely okay with that.  I need at least another year to recoup :)  MK & BFF both have birthdays this Saturday, and I'm so excited to celebrate THEM!!  I've taken off this Friday to spend the day at the pool with BFF.  My club has completely re-done the pool this year (new chairs, umbrellas, etc) and I can't wait to spend a day enjoying it!

I hope the weather where you are is as lovely as it is in Smalltown, VA today :)  I think outside dining for lunch is in order!

Have You Heard?

This song.....

I'm obsessed!  It makes me want to dance a jig :)  And then someone told me it reminded them of me.  And I'm just not really sure how I feel about that.

I'm Not Bipolar, I'm Just a Gemini

BFF shared the title of this post with me today :)  We are both Geminis, and we completely realize that dealing with us can sometimes be a bit "trying".  One day we want one thing, the next day we want something else.  But it's not our fault.  Right?

My birthday celebration was AMAZING.  That is the only word to describe it.  Seven of my besties and I met in a quaint little city and made the most of it.  We met some interesting characters.  We drank far too many shots.  We ended the night at a hot dog stand, where people were yelling at us with bull horns.  We started the next day with brunch.  And then did some shopping.  It was nothing short of amazing, and I realized something this weekend.  No matter where I am next week, next month or next year....I will be happy.  I have the most amazing girlfriends in the world, and they will ALWAYS be there to laugh with me.  And to dance with me.  And to smile with me.

Daisy wasn't able to join in the celebration with us, so she graciously offered to keep LW for me.  Boy did he have a good time!  Although I would have liked nothing more than to wake up on my birthday morning with puppy kisses, I knew he was in good hands:

(Louis on an adventure in Daisy's back yard!)

(when I got home LW couldn't even hold his head up.  Too much fun for this pup!)

Last night I gave a bit of thought to the last year of my life.  Because really...how can one not?  Another year has passed, and a new beginning is upon me.  Although the last month of my life has been heartbreaking, I wouldn't take back the last year for anything.  Seriously.  I would probably have done a few things differently, but all in all......I've laughed more, smiled more and loved more than I have in a long, long time :)

I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but I'll tell you one thing friends...it will find me with a smile on my face and a bounce in my step. And a new mantra to boot:

Don't promise me the moon or the stars, just promise me you'll stay under them with me.

Hope your Monday is as lovely as mine is!

LW Thursday

I am so busy at work, and I'm absolutely loving it!!  However, it keeps me from having anything to talk about on my blog :-o

So, today I'm going to post some recent pics of LW.  He's growing like a weed.  He will be 1 year old on August 4th.  I can't believe it!!  I am having a birthday party for him, and I've found someone to make pupcakes and treat bags for all of his friends.  I know, I know...I'm a little bit off my rocker.  But seriously...how could you not want to spoil this little guy?

(snuggle time last night)

(discovering water on an adventure of sorts)

(investigating my new flowers in the back yard)

Happy Thursday!

1 Love & 1 Hate

One of my faves Laurnie from Some Wine With Cheese has just given me a fabulous award!!  The I Love Your Creative Outlet award!! Thank you so much Laurnie :)

Now, ask me what I have to do for this award.  Ask me what the rules are.  Go ahead.  Ask.

NADA!

Nothing to do.  No rules.  I just get the award.  How lovely is that??

AND...I have to share with you what Laurnie said about me on her blog (which you should go to HERE to read b/c there are other fabulous bloggers she has awarded and you can find them too and then you will have even more reading to do while at work....shhhhhhhhhhh...)

This is what she said:

"T @ Desperately Seeking Seersucker ~ I just wish she didnt live in smalltown, va and actually lived by me because we would so be friends. Even if she didnt want to be"

And we would be friends.  Because she's awesome :)  So go read her.  And follow her.  And maybe she will then follow you (if she doesn't already).  And then maybe the next time she does this you will get this award too.

You will have to excuse my snarkiness today.  I'm feeling very irritable.  And I'm going to share this quote with you.  It's my current gmail status.  Please feel free to use it when you have a snarky day as well :)

Don't hate me because you can't be me. Hate me because you cannot even compete.

See.  Told you I was feeling snarky :-o

What Nationality Are You?

I'm back from the beach.  It was lovely.  Absolutely lovely.  So much fun.  So many crazy tales to share.  What is it they say?  Bad decisions make great stories :)

I met a guy.  He was nice.  And cute.  And successful.  And lives in Phoenix.  Oh well.

I ran into TWENTY again.  We are now friends on Facebook.  This is hysterical to me for some reason.

A guy asked me what nationality I was.  I was a bit taken aback because I don't look especially ethnic.  I don't have big, dark doe eyes.  Or great olive skin.  I wish I could have seen the look on my face during this conversation:

Guy: So, what nationality are you?
T:  What?
Guy: What nationality are you?  If you don't mind my asking.
T:  Me?  (looking around)
Guy: Yea.  See, I'm from up NORTH and it's a common question.  You ask people what nationality they are.  And like if you're Italian...and I'm Italian...then it's like an instant connection.
T:  Oh.  Well, we don't really do that in THE SOUTH.  And I'm not Italian.
Guy: So....what nationality ARE you?
T:  Is WASP a nationality?
Guy:  Huh?
T:  It was nice to meet you, I've got to use the restroom now.  Bye.

I'm uber tan.  Probably too tan for my own good.  But I wore SPF constantly!  SPF 30 mostly, and some SPF 15.  I'm not sure exactly what happened?  And my hair got really light.  I'm not sure how I feel about that.  I look a little something like this:

....but not really.  The awesome thing is that I haven't put a stitch of make-up on since I got back :)  I love having a tan.  Just some mascara and I'm ready to roll!

Daisy's car was towed.  We ended up at the city impound lot at 1:30am.  I have never laughed so hard.  I'm not sure why though, because technically it really wasn't funny.  But we were all laughing.  And taking pictures.  And the woman was trying to be serious, but we were having NONE OF THAT.

I had my first warm Krispy Kreme donut.  Right out of the oven.  And it was delish!

I have never experienced anything like it.  And guy that I met gave it to me.  And I had icing all over my face and in my lap and I was as happy as a clam.  And then he called me Tubby and I pouted.  But he winked at me, and was kidding.  Because I'm so NOT tubby at the moment.  And I know that :)

And now I'm exhausted.  I went out last night to kick off my birthday week.  And late last night I caught up with an old friend.  And I haven't had nearly enough Louis snuggle time, but that will change tonight :)  All in all this birthday is starting to look up...and there is, after all, the celebration this weekend to look forward to!
