Cooking Class #2 - Cavatini

Last night I hosted our second cooking class.  My hosting pretty much defeated the purpose, as I'm the one that really doesn't know how to cook...but anyway...

We started out with a glass of wine.

I find that a glass of wine tends to get everyone into the cooking mood :)

We each picked wine glass markers that described the way we were feeling last night:

(i was "volatile", Daisy was "immature", and Marilyn Monroe was "ripe"!)

I had everything we would need set out and ready to go:

(check out my 1940's stove.  i absolutely adore it)

Cavatini is a meaty pasta casserole that can be made with any leftovers that you have.  It's a bit like a "chef salad", if you will.  The idea is that back in the old country they would throw in all of the left over types of pasta, meats, cheeses and vegetables to make one big dish!

I gave a little bit of "instruction".......

(notice my blonde hair....yipppeeee!!!!)

.....and we were off!

I chose to use penne pasta, farfalle, ground beef, pepperoni, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese and meat sauce.

A very quick and easy dish, that is absolutely delish!!  (awww...i made a rhyme.  aren't i clever)

Of course, once we were finished with our supper Louis wanted to sit at the table for the gossip part of the evening.  He is such a gossip!

(notice my "surprise" at the gossip Louis has just shared with us)

Daisy was NOT PLEASED when we ran out of wine:

So, I had to get out another bottle.  Probably a bad decision, based on how I feel today :(  Louis, however, thought it was a FINE idea...at the time :

("yea, yea, yea mummy.  do it!")

He is also an instigator.  A gossip and an instigator.  He must get that from his father, because clearly I would NEVER do any such thing :-o

Overall it was a lovely evening!  I happened to snap this picture before the girls came over.  It looks like fall has officially "fallen" at Casa Seersucker:

Happy Fall y'all,

Westie Wednesday

Poor little Louis.  He doesn't have much to report today :(

This week has been more about me.  His mummy.  His mummy who dyed her hair red.  Which then turned orange.  Which then caused her to have a quasi mental breakdown.

Louis has been hiding between the wall and the couch a lot this week.

But I think that's over now.

Mummy's hair is blonde again:

It was quite a process to get it back that way.  I've never had my hair colored before, so this was all new to me:

And a bit overwhelming!  But, when it was all said and done I felt like me again.

And when I went home, Louis and I did the happy dance to celebrate.

And then he curled up on the couch and waved his paw, telling me to come hither.  And he snuggled up beside me and sighed.  Deeply.  And I imagine he was remembering how lovely and peaceful our life was prior to the Hokie Head mishap:

...and looking forward to more days like that.

Happy Muffin :)

You Are Not Alone

To those of you in my life that I cherish, who ever feel "different" in any way, please never forget that I am here for you.  Always.  And that I love you.  And that the world would be a lot less bright without you in it.  Not just MY world.  THE world.  Never, never, never forget that :)

You are loved so very, very much.....

And for those of you that I never knew, but who felt that you could no longer stay here as a result of the bullying and prejudice you were subjected to.

You will be remembered...

....always.

I Just Saved $110 at Old Navy...And You Can Too!

Remember how I was going to go shopping last Saturday and purchase a bunch of presh little frocks and jewels?  Well, that didn't so much happen.  Instead I got all distracted, and here we are....

...it's Tuesday and I've no cute frocks and jewels to wear with my leggings :(

I know.  I know.  Problems of the middle to upper class.  Quit whining T.

Okay.  I will!  I'll just spend my afternoon shopping online since my team member at work will not return my phone call.  I'll just hop right on over to Old Navy to have a peek at what they may potentially have for dirt cheap.

PAT THE BRAKES!!!

They have the same little frocks, and leggings and presh ballet flats.  They also have snuggly slippers and warmy pants and....

Well, you get the point.

The jewels aren't so cute, but let me just show you what else is:

All of this, PLUS 2 pairs of little shoes for MK and the total was only $277.08.  Now, mind you, I will probably return some of this.  Like those two ballet flats with the grommits.  I'm not sure about those.  And perhaps those black/gray cheetah print leggings?  We will just have to see.

BUT...nothing cost more than like $20.

How did this happen, you want to know?  Well gather round and I'll tell you.

1st - $7.00 flat shipping rate
2nd - 30% off of EVERYTHING!!!!

Through tomorrow (October 21st) you can receive 25% off of EVERYTHING you purchase online at Old Navy by entering the following coupon code:

ONSTYLE25

However, you can save 30% off of EVERYTHING  you purchase online at Old Navy through tomorrow (October 21) IF you spend over $150.  Just enter this coupon code:

ONLOVE30

So I'm trying to call a truce with Polyvore.  We have been enemies for about 2 years.  MK is trying to facilitate our truce by serving as a mediator.  With her assistance I would like to show you the following outfits that I plan to wear once my package from Old Navy arrives:

The other exciting news for today is that at 5:30 I have an appointment to have this red hair situation fixed.  PTL!

Just Call me RED...

Many of you have asked to see my red hair.  The sad news is...you can't REALLY comprehend how red it is.  It just looks strawberry blonde :(  Which it definitely is NOT.  Clearly it doesn't photograph well.

But, this is the best MK and I could do:

Just a wee bit different than it used to be....

My Weekend Was...

Tasty Surf n' Turf dinner Friday night:

After dinner cocktails and bocce ball:

Watching the Virginia Tech game while drinking Dark n' Stormies:

Off track betting on horse races, where I won $50 :)

My hair is now red.  As in:

Fires in the fireplace:

You wouldn't believe who my partner in crime was for all of this.  So I won't even bother telling you :)

Hope your weekend was just as fun filled,

T
