If You Don't R.S.V.P.....

.....you will have a name tag that says "No Sandwiches & No Punch".  I'm just sayin....

I know that most of you have blogged about this at one time or another.  But I need to vent, so please just bare with me.

59 invitations sent out in the mail.  One moth ago.  Shower is THIS Saturday.  9 people still have not RSVP'd.  About 10 had to be contacted to ask what their RSVP was on Friday.

THREE people have RSVP'd "maybe".  Are you serious?? MAYBE?!?!??!?!

The grandmother-to-be is making name tags for those in attendance.  When some of these 9 ladies show up unannounced, and don't have a name tag, are they going realize the error of their ways?  Or will they just continue down their tacky path of life?

I wonder sometimes....have these ladies who don't bother to RSVP at all ever hosted a party of any sort?  Do they comprehend why one even asks them to RSVP?  Do they realize that the food, beverages, plates, cups, napkins, favors, decor, name tags, etc. don't just magically appear on the morning of the event?

Hmmm...I wonder.

And yes, I do realize that God has not placed me on this earth to teach people R.S.V.P. etiquette, thank you very much :)  I just cannot help but be taken aback when this happens.

Le sigh,
T

That is frustrating. I mean seriously, how hard is it? I have to rsvp usually immediately, or I'll forget. But that's crazy, that those girls have been contacted again, and still no rsvp. Really? Hope the party goes well!

I understand your grief. When planning my sister's wedding people pulled out the week before, a GROOMSMAN pulled out a week before, b/c his wife decided she didn't want to bother. Disgusting. We had his tux and everything. He was in the program.

I hear ya!! Thanks for RSVPing to my party...even though you said NO! :( Haha...seriously, I HATE when people don't RSVP...then you prepare for those who DID RSVP and don't have enough food...or you prepare for MORE than those who RSVPed thinking more will show and they don't so you have a ton leftover...geesh...haha! I'm sure the party will still be fab...and yes, a "no RSVP" nametag is in order :)

It's totally rude. Just wait until you plan a wedding. I just assumed that the ones we didn't get RSVP's from weren't coming. I was right.

that is ridiculous! Seriously, ever since my wedding I rsvp RIGHT AWAY. Not that I was bad about it before. I think that evites/facebook events that make "maybe" an option are partially responsible for this rudeness...

GAH! I hate hate hate "maybe" RSVPs. To me, that's like saying, "If nothing better comes up I'll be there." Similar to when you ask someone to make plans and they reply "I don't know what I'm doing yet." ...maybe you're doing something with me? just saying.

im going to guess that the women that didnt RSVP are going to show up, and complain about not having a name tag instead of realizing why they dont have one

I'm with you on this one! How do people not realize that is rude and the host needs to plan! ERRRGH! Not that I would ever do this because I would feel bad, but It would be wonderful to have sign by the food and favors that says "For those who RSVP'd only".

This is one of my personal and professional pet peeves! It's horrible to be at a huge corporate event and have a guest yelling that he or she doesn't have a placecard because he or she didn't rsvp. It drives me crazy!

I get it!! I hosted my sister's bridal shower and two of her friends never RSVP'd. They then showed up on the day as if it was no big deal, but I was not happy with them. And, I (somewhat politely) let them know I wasn't expecting them and made a big show of having to rearrange to make them fit. Quite frustrating!!

What gets me is the number of people who will NOT send their RSVP but WILL show up. all I can say is "how rude"

This is very frustrating. I have planned a few parties where they were to rsvp, and some never did. I know what you are going through. It all comes down to manners!

Girl you need to read the article in cosmo, from Jan, about how we are a maybe nation!

That is so annoying. The only time I have ever not RSVP'd is when my sister/mom/best friend was throwing the shower and it was for me! Or when I was a co-hostess. That's it!

I do NOT understand people. How can they be so oblivious to the most simple rules of etiquette?
