I Hate Camping, But I Do Like Fishing

So, Marylin Monroe says "Hey T, you should sign up for plentyoffish.com. It's this free online dating thing. And I'm like "no MM, not doing THAT again". And so I log on to plentyoffish.com JUST TO SEE what these people look like. And after I peeked at two or three it says I have to sign up.

So, I sign up. I don't use my real name. I answer some profile questions, which gives me a Chemistry Predictor that I printed out. Yesterday's little teaser is what they have to say about me. WHAT??!!?! MK was with me when I read that. She looked baffled. Because I don't do things like that. I think that maybe it got confused because I used to date someone who did that stuff. ALL OF THE TIME. That's probably it :)

Anyway, I then was FORCED to to write four sentences about myself. This is what I wrote:

"I'm new. Just browsing. And apparently I need to have four sentences. So I'm writing a bunch of jibberish. Sorry :)  I will go hiking for the day, but I'm not really into "hiking". I don't like to camp either."

And then I had to say what I would like on a first date. And I said:

"It really depends. I like to do anything but camp. If someone wanted to take me camping I'm pretty sure that would be the end of that."

And you would not believe the number of e-mails I have gotten. AND THERE ISN'T EVEN A PICTURE OF ME UP THERE!!!!! Who e-mails people without pictures? With profiles as dumb as mine?

Needless to say, we are going to have fun with this my friends. Lots and lots of fun :)

T

When I split up with my first husband I checked out the online dating thing. Those profiles were always good for a laugh.

You sure know how to spice up a blog!

I'm re-living my younger days thru you now ... so don't disappoint - bring on the stories - the good, the bad, and the plain old ugly!

Now after all this - wouldn't it be a real hoot if you actually found 'Mr R' (as in Mr. Right) thru this site.

Can't wait until your next post ... and don't forget about little Louis!

Don't you girls think that she needs to eventually make a new profile that is actually accurate? With pictures and all? I just get the feeling that only desperate people will responsd to a profile with no picture... but maybe I'm wrong. I do know that one of the guys we saw on there is especially cute. So hopefully he'll still be around when she makes a new profile :)

You will def have a good laugh. I signed up for this dating website awhile ago and after a few encounters with jobless and car less due to DUI’s, I decided I was all set. My friend actually forced me to one of their events. Check it out…you will have a good laugh. http://thewayiseeit-megs.blogspot.com/2010/01/plenty-of-fishbut-no-keepers.html
