Westie Wednesday (on Tuesday!)

I was so excited to share that I just COULD NOT wait until tomorrow :)  Last night I finally took Louis to Smalltown, VA's dog park.  Here's the thing...I've been meaning to do this for ages.  Somehow I never quite got around to it, and then when I did...they were closed for maintenance!

So, yesterday evening we loaded up in the car and took off.  I wasn't really sure what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised!  There is both a small dog side, as well as a large dog side.  We started on the small dog side of the park, and Louis immediately posed for a picture with the fire hydrant:

Next he made friends with a Boston Terrier.  There was also a Cairn Terrier there, but he wouldn't stay still long enough for a photo :)

After spending about 20 minutes on the small pup side, Louis was ready to head over to the large dog side.  He began pacing along the fence line and whining.  So, I gave him a stern talking to about making sure he didn't get himself trampled on...and I let him through the gate.

Of course, the first dog Louis decides to befriend is a St. Bernard.  The largest dog there!

There were quite a few large dogs, and Louis ran around with them for a few minutes.  He did a great job of keeping up, and all of the large dogs were very kind to him :)  There was a Blood Hound that took a great interest in Louis.  They ran back and forth and played tag with each other.  It was absolutely adorable.

Needless to say, the dog park will become a part of our regular routine moving forward :)

Tonight, weather permitting, Louis and MK's dog "h" have a play date scheduled.  Believe it or not, they have NEVER MET :-o  "h" is coming to Louis' first birthday party on August 7, so we want to be sure they are properly acquainted before then.

Hope your Tuesday is sunnier than mine!  I know we need this rain, but overcast skies are BLAH :(

What a friendly dog you have! And very cute too!! I have two Maltese and I have been wanting to take them to the dog park but I'm a little nervous. But I think it would be good for them, I'm glad you had a good experience!

I wish we had one of those dog parks around here. I think it would be good for Duke to interact with other animals. He really doesn't get the chance to. Louis looks like he had a really good time and he certainly did well around the big dogs.

Aww, these pictures are so cute! I love dog parks, but my pup is too small for even the small dog side... I still love to go with friends because you meet such nice people, its so great to spend time out doors and I love watching all the cute dogs running and having fun!!

Oh, it looks like he had so much fun! I love taking Molly to the dog park-although all she does is sniff around.

Hope everyone enjoys the doggie play date!

Thanks for your sweet comment, too!
