The 8lb Conundrum

I am trying to lose 8lbs so that I can successfully fit into my gown for the Black & White Masquerade Ball on January 22. I'm recycling a dress this year.

Yes. I know. I said I would never do such a thing. I don't care. I'm trying to save myself $500, so that I can pay off my credit cards :)

Do you remember this dress?

(ewww...my legs look soooo creepy here for some reason?)

(very itty around the waist, which I am currently NOT)

I'm sure plenty of people will.  I was in the paper.  And I don't care one bit.

Yep.  I'm done with worrying about what people may say.  You know why?  Because I'll say "weeee weeee" when I put that $500 towards my credit card, and dance all the way to the bank :)

Anyway, I figured that the holidays were over and it would not be hard for me to eat like a bird for a few weeks.  Thus, allowing me to fit into said dress.

Incorrect assumption.

Our Non-Cooking class last night was filled with very rich, albeit delish, foods.  I cleaned each plate.  AND.....tonight is Daisy's Annual Cocktail Swap.  Yes, Cocktail Swap.  Do you remember this from last year?  Rather than a "cookie swap", Daisy has a "cocktail swap".  This year's theme is "Another Year, Another Cocktail".  Last year's cocktail was surely the Dark 'n Stormy.  This year I'm looking forward to having another signature cocktail.

I'm taking a punch that the lovely Annie, from Classic Annie, shared with me.  Thank you so much, love!!  Here, I'll share it with you as well :)

Annie called it "Diane's Punch".  I re-named it "Southern Berry Punch".  I'm tacky that way, I know.  I hope Diane doesn't find out :-o

1 fifth Southern Comfort
1 can frozen limeade concentrate
1 can pineapple juice
1 bottle cranberry juice
2 quarts of champagne or 7-Up (champagne please!)
Serve chilled, and garnish with orange slices

Annie suggested we take everyone's keys at the door.  I'm not sure exactly what that means we should expect, but I'm excited :)  And to think....we've got multiple other cocktails to try as well!

Daisy has made my favorite Buffalo Chicken Dip.  I will, undoubtedly, camp out next to the food table and eat the entire bowl of Buffalo Chicken Dip.  This will not help my 8lb weight loss.

I wonder if it's possible to let a dress "out" to allow for 8 additional pounds?  I mean, I sure would hate for that Buffalo Chicken Dip to go to waste tonight :-/

A few things...
1. Dress is beautiful and def deserves another night out, esp when it means putting money towards paying down debt.
2. Um, I am kind of in love with the idea of a Cocktail swap party! I may need to steal that.
3. Buffalo Chicken Dip is on my list of foods I simply cannot say no to. They used to sell a super tasty pre-made one at Costco. You would think I would have gotten sick of it after gobbling through so much of it....but no. Still a top treat for me.
4. Now do you REALLY need to lose 8lbs?? Or is this a probelm that some Spanx could help solve? because you are tiny as it is so I don't know where you are losing 8 lbs from!

OOH! I love that dress. and the drink and dip sound amazing!

Have you ever looked at www.renttherunway.com? I just rented a dress from them for a wedding in a few weeks.
basically they offer designer dresses, that you can rent for really affordable prices. you can rent for 4 to 8 days, then you just ship it back to them. and they throw in a free size so if you arent sure what size you need in the dress you can either go smaller or bigger to have an extra just in case.
I sound like I work for them... I dont... I just think it is a brilliant idea!

It is very hard to loose weight when you are as popular as we are with such full social calendars :)

I want you to listen to me very carefully: Go. Buy. A. New. Dress.

Become a bargain shopper. All the Christmas/New Year's Eve frocks are on sale now. Stick to a small budget.

A cocktails sawp sounds like the best party EVER!! AND, I am going to have one...not now, but this spring or summer!! Thanks for the fabulous idea!
AND, that dress is gorg, so go ahead and use it again! Good luck on the 8 pounds! I like how you know the exact number of pounds you need to lose in order for it to fit again :)

My programmer is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP.
I have always disliked the idea because of the costs.
But he's tryiong none the less. I've been using WordPress
on a variety of websites for about a year and am
worried about switching to another platform.
I have heard good things about blogengine.
net. Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress posts into it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
